Established in 2008 as a visionary response to the energy needs of local communities, Black Belt Energy (BBE) stands as a steadfast beacon of excellence in energy solutions. Founded jointly by the cities of Jackson, Thomasville, and Grove Hill, Alabama, BBE operates under the provisions of Act No 762, Alabama 1951, and the “Gas District Act,” proudly serving as a municipally owned corporation.

Our Origin Story

With a shared commitment to energy innovation and community welfare, the collaboration of Jackson, Thomasville, and Grove Hill gave birth to Black Belt Energy. This collective initiative aimed to meet the evolving energy needs of residents and businesses while adhering to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and service.

Empowered Governance

A cornerstone of our organization lies in the structure of our Board of Directors. Comprising elected and appointed representatives from each member city and town, the BBE Board of Directors functions as the regulatory body that diligently oversees our operations. 4. Pipeline Field Services Our specialized pipeline field services encompass a wide spectrum of critical activities, including corrosion surveys and remediation, leak surveys, pipeline and measurement engineering, as well as gas supply and measurement auditing.
